Compact 6 trous).

Welcome to Loudun. A link between the ancient regions of Poitou, Anjou and Touraine, Loudun played a major part in French history , as a rich and cultured city. Our estate, L'Aumonerie, was founded in the 11th century. The present building was built between the 12th and the 18th century. Its primary function till the 16th century was that of Maison Dieu, the city hotel hospital for all incomers during the Middle Ages.

For this reason, l' Aumonerie is located at the edge of town, a five minute walk from the center of the city. We carry on the welcome tradition of this estate, with the comfort and conveniency of our quiet, independant suites. Parking is next to them in the closed park.

We are close to the Chateaux de la Loire, to the famous Loire Valley vineyards, and also to the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, where are located the graves of Alienor d'Aquitaine and of her son Richard the Lionheart, King Richard I of England. Many more touristic locations, including Chinon and its fortress, Saumur and the Cadre Noir Horse riding center, are easily reached from Loudun, a central place.

For relaxation, we can recommend the Domaine du Bois aux Daims Center Park, and the Domaine de Roiffé 18 hole (and compact 6) golf course.

  Enjoy your stay in Loudun!
